Cobook App Reviews
From a feature point of view, this is a great app, but since last fall, I and others have been afflicted with a CalendarAgent bug that causes Mail and Calendars to hang when Cobook is running. Ive been forced to revert to the Apple Contacts app. If Apple or Cobook come up with a fix, Ill happily switch back, but in the meantime I cannot use Cobook, nor can I recommend it.
It looked great, I am using the ipod version and it is great But with the laptop version I can DO NOTHING, there is no connection to my contact book, I can not find any explanation anywhere I have desinstalled it and reinstalled it to see if I could start over but no luck, I am feeling really frustrated, all I get is the logo on the menu bar and the pleasure to have to rewrite my whole address book. At the very least an explanation somewhere would be really nice
I bought this app last week and so far I like it. However, within 30 minutes of use I got annoyed by the way the app manages (or more precisely mis-manage) the selected entry in a tag (group) list after having moved a contact to a different tag (group). I contacted support and provided a detailed scenario to reproduce the behaviour. Still waiting for at least an acknowledgement to any of the 2 emails I sent them. Despite the annoying behavior, I still recommende this application.
All I ever need
Great replacement for the Apple contacts app. Just works.
Cobook is entirely empty after upgrading from OS X 10.7.5 to 10.9.2. Sync button says, No access to contacts, re-enable in system preferences… I went to Security and Privacy pane > Privacy in system pref, no apps are listed under Contacts where apps like Cobook is supposed to request access. Is a fix coming?
I bought the app and liked it, but at a certain point I realised that I just wasn’t using it. The improvements in Spotlight under Mavericks made it largely redundant for me. So I tried to get it to stop loading at login. And then it went badly. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to stop it from automatically loading. I turned off the preference, made sure it wasn’t in my Users login items, checked LaunchItems, even used grep to try to find where it’s being referenced. No luck. I’ve emailed the company and posted on their Facebook page twice with no responses so far. As much as it’s a decent piece of software, I can’t recommend something that can’t be cleanly removed from a developer that is unresponsive.
Let me put it this way, I missed CoBook so much I rolled back to it from FullContact. The branding, etc. is tighter on FullContact, but CoBook gives me more flexibility in dialling numbers and clicking links.
I do not recommend this app as it’s a HUGE performance hog. It uses 200mb+ of memory (15x standard address book) and constantly uses (in background) some amount of CPU. After normal day of usage, this app was at second position of most CPU/RAM intensive app right behind Chrome - and I used it only twice that day. Do not use it. p.s. also starting from release 3.0 you removed some critical feature: ability to copy only part (mouse selected) of a note on contact. Now it’s not possible.
good
Nice, but where is ldap(exchange) support?
Super!
Now with Google Contacts support. Perfect!
update 1.1
After update to 1.1 added connections to facebook, twitter and linkedin are lost! And I can not add them (No profiles found message)
Very good, but...
Add sync with iCloud on OS X 10.6 or add in-app sync service.
Very
Very Very Nice , Best Application in store!
After last update it dosent works! No ikon on menu bar. Just bubble with "Hello Im cobook!" on empty place for few seconds. Its pity – that was great app for me! I tryed reinstall it – nothing changed! it still dont work anyway. Please help!
This app has that functions, what i thought to create. It’s awesome, thanks! Please add one more function: when editing any contact i want to add note «todo» with checkbox that means what i want make toghether with this man/company or other. like «td: what to do» or something like this.
Finally an App that *really* syncs your contacts with Gmail, while the original Apples Contacts is full of problems concerning this point. Also, it features a very minimal, unobtrousive yet OS X integrated user interface, *unlike* Contacts! And, it keeps synchronizing fine both with and without iCloud! Two things I would like to see in the forthcoming versions: - LDAP support - tool to guess (detect) duplicated entries I would definitely pay for such an app.
I have downloaded Cobook and installed on OS X Mavericks, was working well and the software is great. Now I have installed Yosemite and Cobook doesn’t work any more, do you have any suggestion?
With last update I have lost my Linkedin and Facebook sync. On the website there is no contact form or email for support. Definitively your support is poor, the application continue to loose sync capabilities every update you made. Contact me.
Update - downgrading to 1 star because the developer has not responded to support mails. Update - what we really need is a way to roll back to previous version while an app developer fixes issues which may arise from time to time and unfortunately that is one thing App Store does not allow - (at least not that I know off). I have the same problem on iPhone and iPad - some very good apps have horrible updates..Does anyone know how to roll back to older version of apps. just bought this and a few days later it is upgraded and I am no longer sure I should have paid money to buy it.
Uh, so cobook updated and lost all my contacts that I have been saving up (manually entered hundreds). Excellent feature if I do say! I seriously hate leaving bad reviews becasue I work for a small business and know how it is but wow.. This is not good. I paid money for an app that just decides to delete all of my hard work and customer info from a year ago. Not cool guys. I want my money back..
